Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer III that will be a
critical member of a U.S.-based global systems integrator providing
technology solutions and services for commercial and government
clients. This is a full-time permanent role supporting our program
from a Remote location but must be within 1 hour of Cincinnati, OH;
Raleigh, NC; or Athens, GA. The Systems Engineer is responsible for
hands on solution development, validation, and technical
integration efforts. The candidate will work with technical teams,
support resources and delivery teams at all levels to address
problems and build component solutions of various sizes and
complexity. Initiatives may include analyzing complex computer
systems and processes, monitoring and troubleshooting applications
and creating new systems and procedures in response to input from
the user community and program leadership.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participate in the development and implementation of technical
solutions under tight deadlines to accomplish project goals.
- Perform technical implementation tasks ensuring work is
delivered on schedule.
- Troubleshoot technical enterprise problems during and after the
project lifecycle.
- Communicate with staff or clients to understand specific system
requirements.
- Identify and recommend cost effective solutions for lowering
operational costs, streamlining processes, and improving the
overall operational environment.
- Communicate project information through presentations,
technical reports or white papers.
- Provide design concepts and time estimates for implementing
custom solutions to customers and/or other support teams.
- Document design, installation instructions, and other
system-related information.
- Configure servers to meet documented specifications.
- Execute simulations using manual or automated tools, to analyze
or predict system performance under different operating
conditions.
- Develop documentation for systems, including standard
configuration, operating procedures and work instructions.
- Provide subject matter expertise and/or lead tier 3 level
remediation of production issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Five years of Systems Engineering experience or equivalent
education plus experience.
- Design and administration of public cloud platforms (Azure,
AWS, GCP).
- Windows Server Operating System management experience (Windows
2016/2019/2022).
- Configuration and Management of Windows 10 and Windows 11
Client Operating System.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and
troubleshooting.
- Active Directory object administration.
- Effective problem solving.
- Customer-support background and the ability to develop strong
working relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including, but
not limited to, procedures and technical documentation.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work and learn independently,
in addition to being a team player.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multi-task
in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Can-do attitude and time management skills are critical.
Special Skills (if applicable)
- Project Management Experience.
- PowerShell/Python or similar Windows scripting experience.
- MSSQL/MySQL database administration.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Desired State Configuration (DSC)
administration and management.
- Administration of Microsoft Active Directory and Entra.
- Engagement with Enterprise Backup Software (e.g., NetBackup,
Veeam, Commvault).
- Windows Server security standards and configuration
management.
- Microsoft System Center (SCOM, SCCM).
- Microsoft 365 SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerApps, Teams.
- RedHat Enterprise Linux.
- Enterprise storage design/operation.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio and/or VS Code.
- Familiarity with GitHub and/or Git.
- Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) to create
and modify documentation.
Education / Certifications
- Bachelors in Computer Science or Computer Information
Systems
- Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCSA, etc.) on Microsoft
Windows Server 2016
- Azure Infrastructure or Azure Data and AI - strongly
preferred
- Other cloud platform certifications (AWS, GCP) - a plus
- ITIL version 3 or 4 certification - a plus Work Authorization
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust
clearance
